Review of Beasts of the Southern Wild (2012) by Ted C — 15 Oct 2014
Finally, a movie with a child protagonist that truly seems like something out of their imagination. Having seen 'Beasts' for the first time after already seeing 'Boyhood', I was struck by the fact that the entire film seems to be from Hushpuppy's internal point of view; compared to the unchanging, judgmental, adult perspective of the Linklater film.
It is by no means perfect or coherent, but it's sincere and evocative.
