Review of Beasts of the Southern Wild (2012) by Chris K — 10 Apr 2015

Beasts is a very refreshing film. Pure poetry on screen, this fantastical fairy tale truly provokes the imagination. Beasts is crazy deep; a complete and utterly imaginative in its presentation and style.

Not only does Beasts provoke thinking in new ways, Beasts doesn't conform to any archetypes or story-telling methods that every film uses - this film tells the story from a first person perspective, while also a third person perspective too.

It's truly a unique film - artsy and deep - but totally understandable with a brief analysis post-viewing. It's a film that's way too difficult to explain, so I would rather say you should see Beasts without any prejudice, open your mind, and prepare for an incredibly creative film.
