Review of Beasts of No Nation (2015) by Claudio D — 16 Oct 2015
We have a saying in Mexico that roughly says, â??He who embraces all,.
Squeezes noneâ?? the story seemed to have a lot more meat than what was shown by Fukunaga.
I guess by taking a writing, directing and cinematography roles the end result suffered and we got a diluted version of what this film could have been, you could see some sparks of greatness here and there, almost got me excited into thinking that the best was just about to happen, but it never really got there for me, not sure of it was a budget decision, but if I had to change something I would have given the script to someone else for a second read or to dig a bit deeper on the story lines, it felt that a lot was left on the table, don't get me wrong, it's a great movie , I just felt that Fukunagaâ??s Magic was a bit diluted.
