Review of Beasts of No Nation (2015) by Sheldon C — 18 Oct 2015
Unflinching yet elegant in its craft, BEASTS delivers through its powerful and weighty performances, its carefully designed visuals (and camerawork), and its bold depiction of the atrocities of war without relying on exposition.
Though the voiceover distracts at times, Abraham Attah and Idris Elba carry this film and are both gripping to watch. The lack of any particular powerhouse scene however prevents the film from being as memorable as it could have been, though it is still one of the most daring and intriguing films of the year.
