Review of Beach Rats (2017) by Danielle R — 19 Jun 2018
As a Brooklyn native born & raised this story line overwhelmingly resembles an actual true event that happened a few years back, where a small group of young men from Gerritsen Beach (commonly referred to as "beach rats") loured a homosexual man to the beach along side the belt parkway & attempted to rob him.
Sadly the man fled on foot & was struck & killed by a passing motorist. After painstakingly finishing the film it occurred to me that but a few small differences separate the actual plot line from the reality.
All that aside, other then the nostalgia I felt from seeing many of our Brooklyn land marks the film itself lacked too many things to even start naming the most notible being a proper ending!
