Review of Be Kind Rewind (2008) by Abhilash S — 17 Jan 2010
When it comes to the comedy genre, the first thing which should be well created is, its presentation. And in the case of "be kind rewind", its something very innovative. You generally don't expect something much with the story line among the comedies, but here its the screenplay that works & so does the movie.
Elroy Fletcher(Danny Glover) is a VHS store owner & Mike(Mos Def) works in there. The VHS business is not so active these days & he also has the problem of his building getting condemned. So he does goes out for some ideas, how to save the building from getting condemned(by converting his store from VHS to DVD).
Meanwhile, Mike has been given the responsibility of the VHS store. And there is this "messy" guy, Jerry(Jack Black), who is a friend of Mike, who messes himself up with some "magnetivity" problem, further causing damages to the VHS' & so all the tapes gets erased.
So to undergo the problem, they create their own movies by the same name in their own style(loads of funny parts during the making of the movies). From Ghostbusters to Rush Hour 2,they create many titles in their own way.
It is also a story 'bout the underdogs & how they become the winner in the end. Movie is refreshing, funny, charming, delightful which ends up creating a "feel good" feeling among the viewers.
Go & get some laughs !
