Review of Be Kind Rewind (2008) by William S — 21 Apr 2010

I liked it. I was expecting something a little different. I was expecting another one of those Napoleon Dynamite rip offs (like Juno, Flight of the Conchords, or other misc Wes Anderson/Jared Hess style films).

It isn't really very much like that. Be Kind Rewind isn't terribly funny. Its got a couple chuckles here and there. It is however a precious little gem. It is a heartfelt story loosely based off of a true story (very very loosely at points).

The ending it beautiful and sweet. Watch this with your grandmother (no wait, there are a couple sexual references, so maybe not). But in any case, don't expect to laugh uproariously. Its not that kind of movie, but it is truly sweet and touching and at points extremely creative.
