BE KIND REWIND suffers from a lazily plotted script (interesting twists and undercurrents are hinted at and then instantly abandoned) and never transcends its basic conventionality. But its brilliant ideas about mass culture and filmmaking - and the sheer comic energy of Jack Black and Mos Def - gives us a delightful time.
