Review of Be Here to Love Me (2004) by Tim F — 14 Sep 2009
Watched a portion of this two or three years ago, before I had any idea who Townes Van Zandt was. Just recently revisited it via Netflix, and it was a completely different experience now that I was familiar with about 80% of the music.
Moving and fascinating portrait of a complex, talented and flawed individual - with lots of interesting commentary by friends and contemporaries including Steve Earle, Guy Clark, Willie Nelson and Kris Kristofferson, and several touching interviews with his wives and children.
Highly recommended for fans and potential fans alike.
