So The Rock and Efron could have been a really funny comedy pairing, but the writing was sloppy as hell. I didn't really understand where the plot was going until halfway through the movie. Ronnie was a terrible character.

Hiring an out-of-shape lifeguard on a massive beach just because he tried really hard has got to be one of the dumbest ideas I've heard of. He's just there for a corny nerdy-guy-lands-the-hot-girl subplot that's become such a tired cliché in today's comedies.

In short, Efron had a few good moments, but the rest of the movie was garbage.
