Review of Battlestar Galactica: Razor (2007) by Alexander A — 29 Mar 2009
If you haven't seen the Battlestar Galactica episode "Pegasus" then you won't understand who Helena Cain is or why the main characters from the series are in the background for this story. Continuing on, BG:Razor is three tales in 1h 43min, with a present day encounter of Lee Adama's first few days of command, Kendra Shaw's flashback's when Pegasus was first attacked by the Cylons Ten Months ago and yet one more set of flashbacks from one of Galactica's crew who had a chilling encounter with the cylon in their youth. Now, on the plus side, we do get more character development on Admr. Cain, who I always thought of as Bill Adama's more ruthless opposite, but other than her and Shaw all of Pegasus' other characters are laid aside (which makes sense time wise for under 2 hours). Bottom line: this is a "what if?" story in sense that this may have been what could have happened to Galactica if Bill Adama didn't have Pres. Roslin to stop him from making the choices that Helena Cain thought was right.
So, if you're a Battlestar fan, you'll enjoy this. If not, start from the miniseries first and then seasons 1-2.5 before watching BG:Razor.
