Review of Battleship Potemkin (1925) by Adam R — 19 Mar 2008
A remarkable, important film, even if it is just a piece of nationalist propaganda. Eisenstein turns in a wonderfully-realized portrait of the unsuccessful Russian revolution of 1905.
The Odessa steps sequence is simply tour-de-force, a masterpiece of direction, editing, music, and acting.
