It really is no surprise this was a box office failure and a failure among critics. Battlefield Earth is based off a best seller by L Ron Hubbard and Hollywood unfortunately made the characters two-dimensional and the script left a lot unexplained.
If you've read the book it's worth a see, just keep your expectations low.
