Though the acting, film making, and flat characters may have been a little painful to watch at times, the grisly action and original concept (that I'm still convinced the Hunger Games ripped off) really balanced it out in a great way.
Battle Royale not only shows how different foreign cinema can be in a good way, but how primal humans are deep down. The writing is ok if occasionally cheesy and as I said the acting is sub par, but Battle Royale is smart and gruesome entertainment that is sure to please.
