Review of Battle Royale (2000) by Kyle A — 30 Oct 2013
"A movie that starts glorifying all that bloody violence in scenes of intense and physical brutality. If you want to make a good movie, it must engage the audience emotionally through strong characters so that we can have something to root for.
Instead of politically thought provoking, especially given this scenario, it becomes more of the usual horror-slasher with no morals. Scene after scene of bloodshed and countless dead bodies, not one of them had any character structure whatsoever.
The movie glorifies the beauty of killing others before they can get their hands around you. I felt The Hunger Games was ten times better than this....sadistic film only made to gross-out a watching viewer.
Entertainment for Adults...not so much, unless you count yourself as a viewer amongst films like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre...in fact, you might as well call it "The Japan Shoot-out Massacre: Rogue Teenagers.
