Review of Battle Royale (2000) by Diego T — 17 Feb 2013
One day this movie will be a reality, trust me, I can see it happening haha. Battle Royale based on a manga of the same name and the movie is mild compared to the sorce material. Not saying Battle Royale isn't violent, because it most certainly is, only manga is the most disturbing comic book I've ever laid eyes on. Battle Royale the movie that raised some eye brows around the world and made some kids afraid to go to school, well maybe not.
Battle Royale is the best survival movie I've probably ever seen. Also if you have a dark sense of humor (I do) you'll laugh your ass off quite abit, well there are a few sad scenes but for the most part this is black comedy. The plot is pretty simple, a high school class is taken to a island where under the BR act, the have to kill each other off until there is only one. The one who is left is set free to join society again.
For those that never seen Battle Royale, it's in complete subtitles, there's no option for dubbing. But it really doesn't matter because this movie is so engaging you'll forget about reading everything. Quentin Tarantino has stated BR is his favorite since becoming a director, he's also stated he wished he had made the movie himself. After watching it you'll see why Quentin loves it so much.
Anyways, I plan having a lottery at my high school reunion and taking my class on little feild trip of my own. Only I know for a fact I'll becoming back alive, because I'm gonna rig my Battle Royale haha. But seriously, Battle Royale is great film to watch with someone else. I actually watched it with my best friend, which I didn't kill by the way haha.
