Review of Battle: Los Angeles (2011) by Skyler B — 22 Jan 2013
Should have been called "Hope You Don't Want to See Any of this Stuff, Guys" - the movie's effects are awesome... when you can actually see stuff for more than two seconds. And, even then, the camera is probably moving around too fast to get a good look, anyhow. Acting is fine, action sequences are tense but repetitive, and the characters are throw-away.
If you want to make a good alien movie, you need to follow two rules: Make the aliens interesting and make the people interesting. Predator, Alien, The Thing, and - heck - even ID4 all do this well and present enjoyable experiences. This movie gives us almost formless monsters and mostly boring humans to fight them.
