Review of Battle: Los Angeles (2011) by Sandwich_Lord — 12 Mar 2011
Though character development, the writing, and camera work are adequate, it's great to see an alien invasion film that was taken into great care from beginning to end. Little details are put here and there such as the aliens acting like military soldiers (reacting to wounds, taking cover, squad tactics) really make you feel like these aliens aren't a bunch of brain dead idiots who stand in one place out in the open and fire wildly and eat the marine's bullets until they finally fall over and die.
Although, this movie isn't revolutionary like many suspected it to be, and that's quite a disappointed. There are cliches present a lot especially in the end when the marines somehow beat the odds in a **** way like every other alien invasion movie out there.
If this movie had more of a sad, "we're straight up fucked," ending I would have given it a higher score. But, even with it's faults, the jokes are a hit, the action (although short) is intense and occurs quite often.
And I have to say the story about the aliens is pretty decent too. Watch this movie, it's worth it.
