Review of Batman: Year One (2011) by Cole M — 12 Jul 2012
An entirely needless film. Once again we get the origin story of Batman, with some Gordon action thrown in there as well. Batman will always be a bit of a pussy, because he goes out of his way to keep the evil guys alive and well.
I don't understand why Batman's ingenious strategy is to repeatedly scare the powerful crime lords in this movie. What the hell is the point? They just become more and more hostile towards him, until he has to take them down anyway. Just kill the baddies quickly and be done with it. You can seemingly already visit them at night at will.
Argh, I hate lame heroes (all the ones that don't want to "sink into their enemies' level"). Painlessly removing them from the equation is not sinking into their level. Did you know that you would save countless lives by doing that, Batsy? There's an idea. Torturing them and killing all their loved ones is sinking into their level. Catwoman was much cooler, at least she slashed the bad guys' faces. That's the least you should do, honestly.
