Review of Batman: Year One (2011) by Scott J — 25 Feb 2013

Bruce Wayne: I've tried to be patient. I've tried to wait. But I have to know. How, Father? How do I do it? What do I use to make them afraid? If I ring the bell, Alfred will come. Another of your gifts, Father. But I'd rather die than wait another hour. I've already waited 18 years. Eighteen years since all sense left my life.

[a bat crashes through his window, lands on his father's sculpture].

Bruce Wayne: Yes, Father.

The story was alright, it was like the animated equivalent of The Dark Knight, but Jim Gordon is the real bad-ass in this story. Benjamin McKenzie did a decent job voicing Bats/Bruce but my loyalties still lies with Kevin Conroy, nobody does Batman/Bruce better than he.....sorry Chris Bale (you're a close second though). Anyway, the animation rocks, it has a very anime-y vibe to it which I totally dug, the story is sound and the voice-acting was good. Not the greatest Bat-animated flick I've seen but not the worse either. This was good and plenty enjoyable for any bat-fan to watch. ^_^.
