Review of Batman: Year One (2011) by Kevin F — 20 Jun 2013
Batman: Year One is an animated adaptation of Frank Miller's milestone 1980s graphic novel of the same name, and a very good one at that. While the writing suffers from following the original book a little too close to the letter at times, the masterfully subdued voicework brought forth by Benjamin MacKenzie as Bruce Wayne/Batman and Bryan Cranston as Commissioner Gordon combine with soft-colored, skillfully dreary animation to create a gripping, if flawed, crime thriller with a personal edge.
