The resent outburst of DC animated straight to DVD superhero movies has throwing out all sorts of stories. Death of Superman, Birth of Wonder Woman, Batman's giant mecha Batman shaped rocket, But Under the Red Hood is a decent adaptation of a decent comic book.

There's 2 points I didn't really like, first of all, John DiMaggio's Joker. He played him well but the character's scripting and all round presence seemed so....not that crazy. Even in the scene where he beats a young boy to death with a crowbar.

The 2nd is the whole re-writing the death of Tim Drake so that Ra's Al Ghul would be involved purely in order to shove the Lazarus Pit in there. The whole "Tim Drake dying while trying to defend his newly found mother" thing is what made that seem less...pathetic. But in this version, it kinda worked. Nice to see lesser known villians like Black Mask taking part outside of comics.

Good voice acting all around, although still a bit hessitant about DiMaggio (don't get me wrong, he's good. Just needs to be more INSANE!) and a pleasant suprise to see a decent Batman without Kevin Conroy involved. Although they kind of hinted and pretty much spoiled the suprise of "Who's under the Red Hood" thing way too early.
