Review of Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 1 (2012) by Sebastian M — 08 Feb 2013
It's so close to the source material, but different enough to keep a viewer entertained and not wrought with the dense inner monologue that works well in the comics, but keeps just enough to make narrative sense.
Peter Weller is phenomenal as the age-ridden Bruce Wayne forced to don his cape and cowl in a dystopian 1980's setting. Ariel Winter gives it her all as Carrie Kelly the caped crusader's new Robin, and really is all the film needs to thrive.
