Although not as good as Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy, Batman Returns is a dark and stunning entry in the Batman film series. Boasting great performances from all players involved, though it is Michelle Pfeiffer who stands out, delivering a Heath Ledger magnitude performance as Selina Kyle/Catwoman.
Pfeiffer digs deep into Kyle's psyche, without ever going too over the top, and not only does she nail Catwoman's sarcastic attitude, but she executes Selina's character arc perfectly. Tim Burton's dark vision of Gotham fits the story and characters perfectly, and even though the film is too "comic book" at times, it works.
