Review of Batman Returns (1992) by Brad R — 12 Oct 2012
A considerable improvement on the original 1989 "Batman", "Batman Returns" offers the best of its predecessor, and even a little bit more. My continued gripe with Tim Burton's take on the "Batman" franchise is that the titular character is often the most neglected and though "Batman Returns" is no exception, Michael Keaton is given more of an opportunity here to do something with the character and makes a likable leading man.
His cast-mates are all exceptional, lead by the aptly casted Danny DeVito as the villainous Penguin, the always entertaining Christopher Walken as corporate sleaze Max Shreck, and a seductive Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman.
Though it may be a little too dark for younger audiences, adults will surely find more to take from this installment than any other in the 1989-1997 franchise.
