Review of Batman Returns (1992) by Brett H — 03 Feb 2014
A real mixed bag of too much Tim Burton's dark influences against truly awesome performances and direction of the villains. This sequel is kind-of all-over-the-place and a lot of the plot feels meandering and unfocused.
Danny DeVito is perfect casting as the creepy and disgusting Penguin, but Michelle Pfeifer is the real show-stopper as the seductive Catwoman! There are some really goofy things going on though and where as you can look at the first one as being set in reality, there is no way to do that here with Catwoman literally having nine lives.
Obviously there are worse Batman incarnations out there, but I'm still not the biggest fan of this entry and find it dull at times.
