In every way better than the original film, Batman Returns favours from an explicit performance from Danny DeVito as The Penguin who shows you another side of his. Burton is always more interested n the Bat Villains than the superhero himself, just like the original film in which Nicholson steals the show. Michael Keaton gives a more controlled work as Batman, but I don't think that it's great in any way. Burton's film fails to do justice to the Caped hero and mostly because the film shows him as a man behind a mask, not a human being, whenever he is off the mask, he is girlfriend hunting. Michelle Pfeiffer and Christopher Walken given top notch performances. The atmosphere and the music and simply spell bounding.
