Review of Batman: Gotham Knight (2008) by Benjamin S — 03 Oct 2011
Anyone who knows me knows im an obsessive batfan, ridiculously so...but I just couldnt get into this. ive never been a huge animation fan, but I do love BTAS, but I even thought kevin conroy sort of sucked in this.
maybe im just used to christian bale and his gravel voiced demon from hell batman voice, but conroy sounded way too casual as batman, and he didnt differentiate at all between his bruce voice and his batman voice, which is a huge pet peeve of mine, because its bad enough that everyone would know it was him just based off his chin, let alone him using the same voice.
...still, its good for what it is, some of the stories are pretty good, and there are a few parts that are really really good (like batman refusing to be lifted up out of a sewer because his arms are full of guns, thats a prime batman moment).
...overall sort of disappointing. I guess im just spoiled by nolan, and to expect every batman outing to be on the level his stuff reaches is probably pretty ridiculous.
