Review of Batman Forever (1995) by Lauren D — 11 Aug 2012
After the ultra dark Batman Returns, we get a Batman movie that owes more to the 60s tv show than to the grim and gritty tales we get today. Kilmer is a serviceable Batman, but Keaton was better. O'Donnell as Robin is surprisingly one of the movies stronger points.
Jones and Carrey seem to be having a "who can chew the scenery the most contest", hamming it up with reckless abandon. A mega hit in its day, Batman Forever now represents the path the franchise would take in the completely out of control Batman & Robin.
Though this one is goofy and cheesy at times, it's still a flawed but entertaining experience.
