Review of Batman Begins (2005) by Brendanf — 02 Jul 2008
A spectacular superhero film. A very dark, but thought-provoking take on Batman's origins. Christian Bale is the best Bruce Wayne ever cast in a film, his calmer, quieter demeanor captures Bruce's pain and internal struggles wonderfully.
Veteran's Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman hold their own as well. Cillian Murphy is one creepy guy and he pulls off John Crane/Scarecrow magnificently. He delivers his dialogue so eerily, including the best line in the film; "He's here.
.. the Batman!" The techs are first rate, particularly the cinematography, which gives us the feeling that people could actually live in Gotham. The actions and fight sequences are smart and well choreographed, if a little choppy.
Overall a very well done superhero flick. I can't wait for The Dark Knight.
