Review of Batman Begins (2005) by Joe N — 09 Jan 2014
This movie is basically the polar opposite of Joel Schumacher's Batman & Robin, which has made everyone very happy apparently. The first hour and 10 minutes of the movie is focused on Batman's Origin.
Not bad, but didn't need to be that long. But at least they tell us who REALLY killed Bruce Wayne's Parents. And it was some guy who's name I can't even remember. When Bruce Wayne finally became Batman, it was like a whole new movie was beginning.
The Villains were Ras Al Ghul and Scarecrow. I wasn't really a fan of Scarecrow's cheap looking costume and how he was treated. There was much more focus on Ras Al Ghul (who is widely responsible for making Bruce Wayne Batman.
) Obviously, this is a more realistic take on Batman, and it went back to being dark (which is good.) I liked the music but a few things I didn't like was the heavy use of tiresome dialogue. I also thought the fight scenes were horribly edited mostly due to extreme close up shots.
(Fortunately the sequels did a better job with the fight scene editing) Overall, I can see why most fans would like this movie, but I honestly think this is vastly overrated.
