Disappointing, even though it was a good idea in many ways. Between the continuity insanity during the car chase, the lack of Katie Holmes' ability to act AT ALL, Bale's unconvincing Wayne and silly voiced Batman, and the fact that every location in the entire movie explodes.
All of these problems are not salvaged by faithfulness to a dark vision of a Batman film. When I watched it in theatres, Batman 1 was still my favourite, and that was not high praise.
