Review of Batman (1989) by Martin N — 09 Mar 2014
Having recently re-watched the revered Tim Burton's Batman; I would advise against doing so if you have nostalgic memories about it.
Not a bad movie, but just not as great as a remember. The special effects are actually really terrible - even for the time. Filled with re-used foley stage sound effects that doesn't quite fit the action on screen. Interestingly it is not just the special effects, but other small things as well. For instance I remember Jack Nicholson's Joker as being fantastic, but after Heath Ledger's portrayal in The Dark Knight ... it just isn't. In general the acting felt a little ingenious. It was somewhere between a dark Tim Burton film and the slap stick 1960's Batman TV series.
In short - don't do it to yourself.
