Review of Batman (1989) by Christopher S — 22 Jun 2014
"Batman'' was the first official Batman movie. Directed by Tim Burton, "Batman'' is a semi-dark envisioning of the caped crusader. While it may not be as impressive as Nolan's masterpiece trilogy, this timeless original is well put together, and well acted.
Jack Nicholson plays Jack/Joker in a brilliant way, making him take 2nd place as his portrayal of The Joker. Sorry, its hard to beat Oscar winner Ledger, but Nicholson defiantly did great.
Michael Keaton did fine as Wayne/Batman, but he did lack the depth, darkness and complexity that Bale had.
"Batman'' will always remain a successful classic, but it lacks the darkness and complexity of the character.
