Review of Batman (1989) by Lenin S — 05 Aug 2018
If I had select my favorite film maker critically, that title would be held by Stanley Kubrick. But from a personal note, Tim Burton's inspiring crating of film is my prize. This film, in my opinion, is the definitive live-action adaptation of the Batman mythos period.
The stylized appearance of Gotham creates this eerie yet compelling scenario that really bounces off the protagonist very well. Michael Keaton, though the unconventional selection at the time, has the most accurate depiction of the caped-crusader.
Bruce Wayne here is the billionaire playboy, but contains an odd twist to him that makes him more mysterious than Bale or Affleck's performance. The Batman is additionally very well portrayed as more of a detective than crime fighter.
The Joker is the most comic accurate as well with a tweak to his origin that works for the context of the movie. This picture is THE BATMAN in live action and nay other incoming actor or story line would be slightly inferior not matter who's attached to the project.
