Review of Batman (1989) by Bardia M — 31 Mar 2013
This movie showcased the darkest version of Batman we have seen yet. The gothic tone was felt by everyone watching, but it worked for this version. We were done with the campy Batman from the 60s, we wanted something different.
Tim Burton does a great job directing, the story was captivating and the acting was exceptional. A Batman and Joker story is always a great story but when you get great performances from them, that just makes it all the better.
Jack Nicholson as the Joker was perfect. He wasn't dark like Heath Ledger's version, but was very comical which suited its time perfectly. Many people were concerned about Michael Keaton as Batman but did he prove them wrong.
He brings intensity to the character that we have never seen in live action. Danny Elfman's score is as iconic as the character of Batman and really brings this comic book film to life. Batman (1989) really set the bar for future summer blockbusters.
