Review of Batman (1989) by Andy G — 12 Jul 2013
Updated: The setting and story stay close to the source material, and the movie ventures into darker territory when it needs to, but Burton tries putting too much sense into the senseless Joker. Stories can't tie themselves up, and the characters can't be made predictable. Nolan will understand this later when he creates his Batman trilogy.
Old (2/5): Batman looks cartoonish. Maybe I feel this way because my strong sentiment to Christopher Nolan's excellent trilogy demands my praise, but everything in this movie seems like it could be put in a musical. Forceful humor and cheesy.
