Review of Batman (1989) by William B — 11 Oct 2013
This movie does have its pros and cons, The pros are that it visually looks good, the acting is good, and the story is good(for a comic book movie of the late 80s). Also the music or Orchestra score is amazing.
For its cons, the style is a bit confused, at times, it has this noir 1940s style, but goes to the 80s style. Jack Nicholson is fun and creepy in the roll as the Joker but has 2 problems, 1). I'm not a fan of the permanent smile.
It just seems to be lazy and makes no sense. Joker fell in a bath of chemicals, that explains the colored skin, but how did he get the smile. 2). Jack just seems to old in the movie. That's why he's not so hyper (I think).
The Batman suite is nice, but not a great Batman suit. All and all, I give it 3 out of 5 stars simply for nostalgia. I grew up watching and loving this movie, but now that I got older, it's just ok.
