Review of Batman (1989) by Jacob B — 07 Aug 2016
Decidedly more of the Joker's movie rather than Batman's movie, Tim Burton's 1989 film adaptation of the Caped Crusader benefits from great performances from Jack Nicholson, Michael Keaton and Kim Basinger, spectacular action sequences and an appropriately (ahem) Dark tone even if it might be a little too dark and violent for some (At the time people were more used to the campy comedic 60's Batman and felt that this film was a bit too dark for the kiddies).
Nevertheless, 1989 Batman will always be remembered as the film responsible for not only doing its source material justice (no pun intended) but also for its development techniques of the superhero film genre.
