Review of Basket Case (1982) by Marcus G — 28 May 2008
Most creature horror films focus on the potential victims and the gradual revelation of the mystery surrounding the "monster." Not this one, which puts a remarkable amount of focus and sympathy toward a troubled man and his retarded parasitic twin.
For once, the lack of filmmaking prowess is kind of charming, as opposed to something like "Blood Feast," which is just sloppy.
And yes, the creature scared the shit out of me, especially during the eerie, otherworldly stop-motion sequences. The last five minutes are incredibly fucked-up, and that's saying a lot coming from me.
