Review of Basic Instinct 2 (2006) by Xavier B — 04 Oct 2009
It's fun watching this directly after the original, to see just how different the two films are, and just how much Sharon Stone needs to not be naked anymore. If anything this film is a public service announcement about plastic surgery and how it needs to end.
As to the film itself, what little suspense there was in the first is tossed out the window, the over the top sex that characterized the first is now more cringe worthy and frankly not sexy at all (including scenes without Stone), and the plot as stupid as they come.
The acting too is just about as bad as it gets, besides the sublime work by Rampling who injects a welcome touch of subtlety and actual ACTING.
