Review of Barton Fink (1991) by Steve W — 02 Nov 2009
Similar to the films of David Lynch, the Coen brothers craft a nice enigma of a story with some great cinematography and acting. I especially liked John Mahoney and John Goodman.
It wasn't what I was expecting either, I was expecting a light-hearted drama comedy about a writer overcoming writer's block, and got a surreal film about minds and creativity.
My favourite bit was when Charlie returns to the hotel, with a vengeance.
An excellent film that may require a few additional viewings to pick up more subtle clues and details.
