Review of Barry Lyndon (1975) by The Critic ( — 05 May 2012

A rather slow tale which somehow manages to mesmerise, especially when the second-half begins. The visual splendour and strong performances are nothing new to any film controlled by the masterful Stanley Kubrick, and the production would've been a complete disaster under anyone else's hand.

And whilst this isn't the best example of the director's work, it's a stand-out amongst period pieces and comes highly recommended.
