Review of Barry Lyndon (1975) by Stuart S — 20 Nov 2008
I love Kubrick and was very saddened when he died. I saw The shining, Full Metal jacket and Eyes Wide Shut in the cinema. seeing a new Kubrick film was really an event. I caught this relatively late - in 1996 and saw it a few times in the next couple years.
I thought it was great, the pace, the music, Ryan O' Neal is so underrated, and Leon Vitali (who became a casting and general assistant to Kubrick) gave - in my opinion - one of the best performances on film ever, so good.
I actually saw him in real life once at a premiere and thought wow!
