Given the fact that this was shot in Europe along with the most genuine costumes, buildings, music and actors that had every idiosyncrasy of their characters memorized down to the last detail, Lyndon is a period piece that definitely immerses itself in its time; even to the point of forgoing electric lighting and shooting many of its scenes in candlelight to reflect atmospheric authenticity.

In those particular scenes, the actors have to move as slowly as possible in front of the camera to avoid underexposure and the plot moves at a snail's pace as an unfortunate result. The film still remains a triumphant chronicle about the rise and fall of a man through social class.
