Equipped with a repeatedly haunting background score laden with bereaved piano tunes, Stanley Kubrick's "Barry Lyndon" contains strict parallels with "The Clockwork Orange".
Both habitually show the most horrific scenes with utter casualness, and the focus remains on the villainous nature of the characters.
What left me dazed and unsettled about Barry Lyndon was that I couldn't find a satisfactorily reasonable cause for his gradual and bitter moulding over the years.
