Review of Barry Lyndon (1975) by Michael O — 25 Nov 2011
The movie is subversive and unconventional despite the trickery of its pacing. As close to a live baroque painting as any film I've seen, except it's funnier than it is morose, elevating it to artful entertainment.
The part where Barry's son dies kills me. The movie has a lot of "oh yes" moments like that one.
