Review of Barry Lyndon (1975) by Zak J — 07 Jan 2011
"Barry Lyndon" is the ecstasy of great film-making, where Kubrick's more popular titles acted as the gateway drug. This piece seemed rather cold and in many ways wrong upon the first viewing.
But, with a second and a third, the clever humor and Kubrick's ability to make me feel as if there were no cameras in the room and I was actually peering into life in the 18th century, gave me a profound respect for this great piece of film.
