Review of Barney's Version (2010) by Elisabeth D — 04 Mar 2011
Bravo. A movie, where we don't see the end coming. Paul Giamatti won, deservedly, a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Comedy for his performance in ''Barney's Version".
You don't like Barney but in the end, you realise you didn't know Barney at all. Same goes for the movie, you think it's a comedy, then it's a mystery, then it's a romance. Then ultimately it's a rewarding experience with an ending that answers everything.
I like movies that tie up their endings and this one does. Dustin Hoffman and Giamatti are fabulous together as equally flawed Father and son, who are both immune to their foibles and their effect on those around them.
I like Barney's Version of his life. It was an interesting life.
