Review of Barney's Version (2010) by Dayna S — 11 Mar 2011
Am I the only person who didn't like this movie? Although it was well acted by a great cast, I didn't care about Barney. I couldn't wait for the movie to end. It felt like the adaptation of a book, which it was.
Too many stories sprung on us that felt half-developed and manipulative. In the end I asked what's the point? Since it was Barney's version of the events, it felt like scenes were missing that would give the story a feeling of it making sense.
Have you ever talked to an emotional talkative teary drunk in a bar? Interesting for a minute, but then you realize that he really doesn't care about his life's losses as much as he thinks he does.
His life is an act.
